The Suring Area Public Library (SAPL) is a joint library governed by an 11-member Board of Trustees. Trustees are appointed by the respective municipalities for a two-year term, with one Trustee appointed in an even-numbered year and one Trustee appointed in an odd-numbered year. The Library Board is responsible for hiring a library director, setting library policy, and preparing an annual operating budget.
The Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 5:00 pm at the library. In June, July, and August the meetings will be at 11am. The public is welcome. If you would like to be on the agenda, please call the library at least one week before the scheduled meeting.

Personnel Committee

The Personnel Committee prepares the annual performance evaluation of the Library Director, works with the Director in drafting and recommending to the Board personnel Policies and Procedures, and addresses other personnel issues as presented to the Committee by the Board, staff and/or the Director.

The primary purpose of the Finance Committee is to prepare and present a fiscally responsible and innovative budget that takes into account changes in Library programming, material, and facility needs while considering reasonable estimates of our financial support. The Committee will also make recommendations to the Board for adjustments to the budget, as needed, within a fiscal year.

The Long Range Planning Committee has a mandate to develop a systematic course of action for the Library so that it might better serve the community. That course of action will inform the direction of additional functional plans including staff development, collection development, technology, and marketing.
